1. Who we are

Tutorly is an online platform that connects students with freelance tutors and facilitates bookings and payments. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean Tutorly.

2. What data we collect

Account data: email address, password (hashed), and role (tutor or student).
Tutor profile data: full name, bio, subjects, hourly rate, and availability.
Booking data: student name, email, subject, lesson date/time, duration, and amount paid.
Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We store only a Stripe account ID and payment intent ID — no card details ever touch our servers.
Usage data: pages visited, browser type, and IP address via standard server logs.

3. How we use your data

To create and manage your account.
To process bookings and payments.
To send booking confirmations, reminders, and cancellation notices.
To display your tutor profile to prospective students.
To improve the platform and fix technical issues.

4. Who we share data with

Stripe — payment processing and tutor payouts.
Supabase — secure database hosting.
Resend — transactional email delivery.
We do not sell your data to third parties.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Booking records are kept for up to 7 years for financial compliance. You may request deletion of your account at any time.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies only — to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
